Educating Kids around Dog Safety

The Dog Safe 4 Kids programme has been designed to teach children how to behave around dogs, keeping them as safe as possible. It’s an interactive programme where they learn and have fun at the same time.

When creating the programme, we took it to Massey University to be peer reviewed by Dr Kirsty Ross, PhD, Senior Clinical Psychologies and Senior Lecturer. She loved the programme stating that not only was it age appropriate but, essential learning for children of all ages.

To make sure that our programme is seen as a positive step forward, we put together a poll over various social media platforms to gauge parents/caregivers’ views regarding paying for such a programme.

The results came back with 100% positive feedback from parents/caregivers stating that they would be willing, to various degrees, to help fund these education programs into their children’s schools and ECE’s in purchasing and running this programme.

Included in the programmes:

  • Activity booklets - based on age

  • Colouring in and join-the-dots books

  • Posters

  • Scenario Cards

  • Models of dogs to cut out and various other activities

  • Teachers’ Guide

These are fun & interactive packages that are set out so parents, teachers, caregivers and the community can easily run the programs within your own environment, whether it be in the home, school or community organisations.
